Working Better Together; Arthritis Research UK Topical Review

Chair of the International Coordinating Council, Prof. Anthony Woolf, states in a recent topical review for Arthritis Research UK that working better together is the key factor to making musculoskeletal conditions (MSC) a public health priority.
MSCs have a major impact on healthcare resources and are one of the most common reasons for primary care consultations.  Despite their huge and far reaching impact MSCs are relatively ignored in the wider public health domain, with current priorities focusing on high mortality. Greater recognition that MSCs are a leading cause of disability, much of which is preventable, remains a huge challenge to those wanting to gain appropriate priority for these conditions. To achieve this there is an on-going need to work together across diseases, professions, disciplines and countries in order to ensure musculoskeletal health receives the attention it deserves.
