Update on ICRS 2013 IZMIR - Turkey - The congress will be hold as planned

I am writing to update you on our plans for the upcoming World Congress in Izmir - Turkey.
The ICRS General Board has now met to consider all the information available to us including local information from Izmir, feedback from members (through our on-line poll) and sponsors, legal and financial advice and a review of advice from national governments regarding travel to Turkey.
On the basis of all of this information the Board has voted unanimously to go ahead with the World Congress in Izmir in September, as we have every confidence that the delegates will be able to have a safe and enjoyable meeting.
Since taking our decision, I have also had a telephone conversation with the Mayor of Izmir, who has given me his personal review of the local situation and his reassurance that our delegates will have a peaceful and enjoyable meeting.
We now urge all of you to register for the meeting for the highly reduced congress fees as soon as possible so that we can progress with organizing the event. Please also book your hotel accommodation in one of the official ICRS Hotels at your earliest convenience. You find the hotel booking links on our website: www.cartilage.org
In view of this very special situation, we are extending the early-bird registration deadline to 8th July 2013 at noon CEST (Central European Time) . Please note also that in the unlikely event that we have to cancel the Congress al a later stage we will reimburse participants registration fees.
